JIS Mark Certification Procedure
The JIS Mark is a mandatory certification based on product certification that verifies the conformity of products according to the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). JIS covers industrial and mineral products, data, services and management systems under the Industrial Standardization Act of Japan. The Japanese Industrial Standards are issued by JISC – Japanese Industrial Standards Committee.

How does the JIS Mark certification process work?
The JIS Mark Certification includes sample testing and a factory audit may also be required depending on the type of certification.

The Factory Audit will be conducted by a Registered Certification Body (RCB). The product testing also has to be done in the test laboratory of the RCB. If the manufacturer has its own internal test lab there is the possibility to do witness tests during the factory audit.
A Periodic Certification Maintenance Surveillance (Follow-Up) is necessary to keep the JIS Mark certificate valid.
